Help for blind and deaf film fans
The latest blockbusters will be available for all to enjoy A Cumbria cinema is to become one of the first in the county to offer screen facilities for visually-impaired people or those with hearing difficulties. Lottery funding is being used to install the equipment at the Plaza Cinema in Workington.

The captioning and audio-description equipment provides an unobtrusive commentary to a film.

The cinema plans to show films each week in this format with the first to be announced on Wednesday.

The cinema has been awarded National Lottery funding, through the UK Film Council's Cinema Access Programme, to pay for the digital equipment.

The technology has been installed in the Plaza's two largest screens.
