WANTED! - VOLUNTEERS
WHO ARE WE?
The Dorothy Miles Cultural Centre is named after Dorothy Miles, a sign language poet who worked in both the UK and America. Dorothy was passionate about deaf issues, culture and sign language and longed to bridge the gap between deaf and hearing people. We are making her dream a reality with deaf and hearing friends working together hand in hand.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR?
The Dorothy Miles Cultural Centre are looking for volunteers to help improve the services we are currently running, in particular we are looking for volunteers in the areas of administration, fundraising (writing applications to gain funding for posts & projects etc.), publicity and enabling us to set up and run our website.
We also run courses in Level 1, Level 2, Pre-Level 3, NVQ Level 3 in British Sign Language, Deaf Studies, and Communication Tactics etc.
Also we have regular Children’s Activities Days, and many others.
